Open role
Veterinarian
Country View Veterinary Service has been a fixture in Adams and Pike County for over 35 years, with clinics in Payson and Barry, IL. It's a true mixed animal practice — wellness exams, surgery and dental care for companion animals alongside ambulatory large animal work: vaccinations, bovine reproductive ultrasound, bull breeding soundness exams, heifer development, AI, and farm-call surgery and consulting.
About the role
We're looking for a veterinarian ready for the variety that real mixed practice offers — one day a wellness exam and dental cleaning, the next a farm call for a reproductive ultrasound or herd health work. You'll have the backing of an experienced, established team and the autonomy to build your own client relationships. Whether you're a new graduate looking for real mentorship or an experienced DVM who wants a practice that respects your time and expertise, Country View wants to talk with you.
Qualifications
Required
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice veterinary medicine in Illinois.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and team members.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced mixed animal practice.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for farm calls.
Preferred
- Interest or experience in mixed animal medicine — beef cattle, small ruminants, equine, companion animals and poultry.
- New graduates encouraged to apply; experienced veterinarians equally welcome.
- Ability to perform routine surgical procedures and manage medical cases, with mentorship available as needed.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a supportive veterinary team.
- Interest in continuing education and staying current on advances in veterinary medicine.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
- Ability to build lasting client relationships and contribute to a positive clinic culture.
What they're looking for
Someone compassionate, hardworking and adaptable, who enjoys the variety mixed animal practice offers, communicates well with clients, and wants to build lasting relationships in a small-town community. Seasoned vets and new grads looking for mentorship are equally welcome. Vets who want more surgical volume than the day-to-day caseload provides can arrange additional spay/neuter and other procedures through the practice's partnership with the local animal shelter.
